DVM, PhD, MRCVS
After graduating as a veterinary surgeon in 2011 (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Ghent University, Belgium), Walter stayed at the faculty working at the Department of Medical Imaging and Small Animal Orthopaedics.
For the next 6 years he combined clinical work (CT, MRI imaging, orthopaedics) with research work on the role of joint biomechanics in the development of canine osteochondrosis.
The use of gait analysis played a central role in his PhD research, combined with advanced biomechanical research techniques (musculoskeletal models) and medical imaging (CT). He successfully defended his PhD in June 2017 and moved to the UK in August 2017.
His spare time is dedicated to training and competing in agility with his Border Collies both nationally and internationally. Sports conditioning has always played a central role in his dog training and provides the perfect link between work and agility.
